About The Book:
State Parks exhibit one of more intrinsic qualities-- scenic, natural, historic, recreational, and archaeological -- contributing towards a unique travel and recreational experience. There are 0ver 3,200 State Parks in the 50 states and Caribbean and Pacific island terrirories, with over 1,200 State Parks in the Eastern States.  This book brings to focus these State Parks with a brief description of location, environment and scenery, rivers and lakes, recreational activities, and campgrounds and RV campsites found within. Each location displays icons representing hiking, biking, mountain biking, OHV and ATV trails, horse trails and camps, canoeing and boating, whitewater kayaking and rafting, skiing (both Nordic and downhill), ice skating, snowmobiling, hunting, swimming, as well as camping and RV camping and hookup locations. In addition, there are icons representing visitor centers, museums, and food and concessions.
   Vibrant and beautiful photos of scenes and sights among the state parks further enhance the descriptive content of the book. Each states photo has been chosen to capture the essence and character of the lands and environments to be discovered and explored, or simply to be seen and observed by the traveler.
   These descriptions are brief and condensed from numerous sources obtained from public records both governmental and private. These are general guidelines only, and are not portrayed or intended as legal guidelines, rules, or regulations as defined by national, state, county, or local laws, and private rules and regulations of commercial enterprises. Concerted effort has been made to abridge and summarize such laws and regulations.

About The Author:
The author has brought together his skills as a career graphic artist, photographer, and publications designer to produce comprehensive and useful travel and recreation guides with technical prowess. The author's passion and creative insight in discovering and experiencing nature, the environment, national and regional parks, and wildlife from the active reader's perspective should encourage enthusiasm and anticipation in the reader through his writing.
   Our natural and scenic wonders are to be "discovered and experienced by everyone", and his "what to see and what to do" writing style and format is born from the thirst to experience and discover the world around him.
   Over the years, Mark has operated as a patent draftsman, and contracted as a technical illustrator and book and magazine designer for the National Academy of Sciences. In 2003 Mark authored and published this first book, "Discovering the C&O Canal", the definitive resource and activities guide for one of our country's beloved National Historical Parks, located in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
